Sello tied the knot with a Zimbabwean by birth Given Vhuromo based in Vuwani, South Africa.The heightened drama leading up to the ceremony held in Polokwane is expected to be on the popular reality television show Our Perfect Wedding in the coming days.
Well known to his friends and relatives as Sesi or sister, Nthabi, Sello now identifies as a woman. Like a real Makoti, spotting a red lipstick, He the "she" walked down the aisle shyly as she danced her way into the tent in company of three bridesmaids wearing high-heeled shoes.
Gay marriages are still a taboo in Southern Africa communities despite the passing of the Civil Union Act in 2006 making these unions legal in South Africa.
Year 2013 wedding of Thoba Sithole and Cameron Modisane sparked talk with some activists saying gay marriages is un-African.
Rachoene told the news that her son’s wedding received a lot of opposition from other family members but however this didn't stop her from showing her support.
“This has shocked the family but I am so happy for my child. I never thought I would ever see my first son getting married in a white dress. But this is the gift God has given me. I have accepted it.”
The booked pastor failed to show up,it is the couple’s friend Lozzi Nkgudi, also gay, who took over.
“Even if they hate us Lord, we will continue,” he said ain prayer to bless the wedding.
The union was sealed with a passionate kiss.
