The age 25 woman from Eersterust in Tshwane is now in a mortuary following her muder by hammer smashing by her furious lover.
Neighbors said the couple had been together 4 years. On Sunday morning he called his brother to tell him what he had done before fleeing. He was later caught at Marikana camp.
Community policing forum chairman Andries Mashika said the suspect’s two brothers had come to his residence to attest of the incident and he called the police.
“We went to the house and found the man had locked his dead girlfriend in the bedroom. He had already fled the scene,” Andries said.
Maria’s mum, told she had never liked her daughter’s boyfriend. “She chose to stay with her boyfriend under the same roof even though he didnt pay the Lobola brideprice. If she had listened to my advice she would still be alive.”
Temba Police Constable Herman Moremi said: “Apparently the victim professed to her man that she had been promiscuous all the time they were together. She told him she was infected with HIV,” he said, adding that the suspect would appear in court on a murder charge.
