Zuma's Wife to Take over South Africas Presidency
January 12, 2017
The probability of South Africas President Jacob Zuma's ex-wife, Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, becoming the next leader of the African National Congress was given a boost on Saturday with the endorsement of the ruling party's women's division.
The ANC will pick a new leader at a conference in December and, given its national dominance since coming to power at the end of apartheid in 1994, the winner is likely to go on to be South Africa's next president when elections are held in 2019.
Dlamini-Zuma, the chairwoman of the African Union, is viewed as a frontrunner. She is a Zulu, the largest tribe in South Africa, and is expected to have the backing of her former husband, who will have a major say in who succeeds him.
The Women's League's endorsement is the first for a specific candidate by a national section of the ANC and will intensify the debate over who will take the party forward after it suffered its worst local election results last year.
Dlamini-Zuma was regarded as a capable technocrat during her time as South Africa's minister of home affairs between 2009 and 2012 and has since gained international exposure during her time as the first female head of the AU.
However, critics of Dlamini-Zuma, a medical doctor trained in South Africa and Britain, say she should have done more to intervene when former president Thabo Mbeki denied that HIV causes AIDs and imposed anti-scientific policies.

Mbeki's stance has been blamed by health activists for more than 300,000 preventable deaths. Dlamini-Zuma was foreign minister in Mbeki's cabinet and one of his closest allies.
Vice President Cyril Ramaphosa, a unionist-turned-business tycoon, is viewed as her most likely rival after powerful trade unions endorsed him last year.
Neither Dlamini-Zuma, 67, or Ramaphosa, 64, have declared their intention to run.

Magistrate says Lumumba ‘confused’ – keeps changing lawyers
August 02, 2016
A Harare magistrate has described former Zanu PF activist Acie Lumumba as “confused” because he is continually changing his lawyers.
Lumumba whose real name is William Mutumanje, is charged with undermining President Robert Mugabe’s authority after telling him f*** you during the launch of a new party. On Tuesday, the Magistrate, Mr Vakayi Chikwekwe chided Lumumba for “bringing a new lawyer for every court session”. This was after he brought Advocate Zvikomborero Chadambuka to represent him.
In the last court session, Lumumba was represented by Advocate Nelson Chamisa. Earlier on he had been represented by Mr Arshiel Mugiya. Chikwekwe yesterday inquired if the new advocate was instructed.
The defence counsel produced a letter from Lumumba’s first lawyer, Mr Mugiya, which Mr Chikwekwe said was not clear. Prosecutor Mr Oscar Madhume said the matter was being continually postponed at the insistence of the accused.
To this Mr Chikwekwe said: “Accused you are confused, go and put your house on order.
“With so many lawyers in the country, I wonder how many you will bring to this case.”

Lumumba seeks Constitutional Court referral of his matter following the dismissal of his application challenging his placement on remand.
He said his constitutional rights as enshrined in the Constitution were being infringed upon.
Allegations are that on June 30 Lumumba said “Mr President Robert Gabriel Mugabe f*** you. I am drawing the red line, our kids are in trouble so it is a red line I know and my name is Lumumba, Lumumba, Lumumba . . . ”
He was addressing a press conference where he unveiled his political party.
It is further alleged that he went on to say that if anything happened to President Mugabe, his children would be dealt with.
“I am someone’s child, a war veteran’s child, you can touch me, but I hope you live long because God forbid something happens to you and you leave your kids, they will be touched too.”
This week Dr Alex Magaisa, a law lecturer at Kent University in the United Kingdom said that Section 33 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act that provides against insulting the president is unconstitutional as it is too vague and violates freedom of expression and citizens’ political rights.
“Section 33 is an outdated and unjust law which is not fit for purpose. It is unconstitutional and should be struck off the statute books because it is a serious hazard to democracy,” said Magaisa in a recent blog. (Read the full article here).
“An executive president is an active politician who routinely trades arguments with and exchanges occasional political jibes against opponents, especially during election time.
“It is inherently unfair for a legal system to give protection to a president who freely criticizes and insults competitors whenever opportunity permits,” said Magaisa.
“Indeed, the reality in Zimbabwe is that President Mugabe has often publicly insulted his political rivals and other critics and yet the legal system has often descended heavily upon those who allegedly insult him,” added the law expert.
He added: “A law that fails to treat all persons equally falls short of the standard of the right to equal protection of the law and against non-discrimination which are protected under Section 56 of the Constitution.” Nehanda Radio
22 and married to a 60 year old man
July 25, 2016
MOHLAPI Monyane was just 22 when she met the father of her two children, but he was already a madala at 60!
Five years later, the two are still deeply in love and Mohlapi wants people to stop gossiping about her relationship.
Mohlapi (27) said when she started dating Skhumbuzo Zuma (65) everyone in her neighbourhood urged her to leave him and look for a younger man.

Now she wants her neighbours in Berea, Joburg to accept that they love each other and to leave them alone.
“When he first approached me I didn’t hesitate. I loved him too and soon I moved into his flat in Berea, where he works as a security guard,” she said.
Mohlapi said she loved her madala because she had seen many young girls crying over cheating partners.
“He looks after me and doesn’t cheat. I get anything I want from him. He satisfies me in bed and I’m happy with him,” she said.
She said although her man might look old, he’s a machine in bed.
“He’s all I want,” Mohlapi said.
Madala Skhumbuzo said Mohlapi was his queen.
“I love her and I don’t want to lose her to some young people who drive big cars,” he said.
Skhumbuzo said in the five years he had been with Mohlapi, he had not once been disappointed in her.
“She’s with me when I need her and she doesn’t party like other young women.
“She stays home and we enjoy our life together,” he said.
Neighbour Felix Ntungwa (36) said he had seen the couple glowing from love.
“People used to tease Mohlapi, but they have been proven wrong as she is still with her man,” said Felix.

Pistorious verdict upgraded to murder after appeals
December 03, 2015
- scar Pistorius has been found guilty of the murder of Reeva Steenkamp, in an appeal court ruling that set aside his original conviction for culpable homicide:
As a result of the errors of law … and on a proper appraisal of the facts, he ought to have been convicted not of culpable homicide on that count but of murder. In the interests of justice the conviction and the sentence imposed in respect thereof must be set aside and the conviction substituted with a conviction of the correct offence.
- The five judges, who were unanimous in their verdict, said Pistorius’ evidence and explanations for killing Steenkamp were “implausible” and he had “never offered an acceptable explanation” for firing four times through a closed door.
- The appeal court said the original trial judge, Thokozile Masipa, had been wrong on several points of law, chief among them her conclusion that Pistorius had not foreseen that his actions could kill somebody (dolus eventualis).
- Justice Eric Leach, reading the ruling on behalf of the bench, said:
I have no doubt … the accused must have foreseen and therefore did foresee that whoever was behind that door might die.
- The judges said it was clear that Pistorius had criminal intent in firing, and was therefore guilty of murder by dolus eventualis (see here for what that means).
- Pistorius, who was not at the supreme court in Bloemfontein to hear the ruling, will have to appear at the high court in Pretoria for fresh sentencing by Masipa.
- Until then, he is likely to stay under house arrest at his uncle’s home and will not immediately return to prison.
5 more University Students South Africa murdered whithout a month of Zaneles Murder
November 27, 2015
Last month, Zimbabwe’s Minister of Higher and Tertiary Education, Professor Jonathan Moyo’s daughter, Zanele Moyo was also found dead at her off campus residence at the Cape Town University and the family still suspects foul play. And now onother Campus murder.
Another female student has died at the Vaal University of Technology (VUT).
Four young women studying at VUT have been murdered in and around campus in the past few months.
Final year cost and management accounting student Thandeka Nkosi (27) is the fifth to die under mysterious circumstances.
Nkosi’s brother, who declined to be named, said a postmortem had found that his sister was strangled and that the suicide rumours were NOT true.“Our sister was murdered and it is very important that we say this to the students,” he said at a memorial service at the university yesterday.
He said the family had found blood on Nkosi’s pillow and mattress. The brother further accused university management of concealing information about his sister’s death. He said the family would be seeking legal advice.
Nkosi’s body was discovered in her locked room at a student residence last Friday. Her friend Sphiwe Khoza said she had last seen Nkosi on Monday, and noticed only on Friday that the heater in her room was on and that her window was open. She said she also heard from other students that there were flies and a foul smell coming out of Nkosi’s room.
On Friday, she approached residence management and was given a master key to the room. She and a security guard made the gruesome discovery.
“I just saw her legs and from there I could not bring myself to look at her,” said Khoza.
Speaking during the memorial service, Khoza said they had been planning their graduation day and the dresses they would be wearing. Nkosi will be buried in Duduza on the East Rand tomorrow.
After the deaths of the two females in September, the institution said it had appointed a company to install CCTV cameras at on- and off-campus residences.Nkosi’s death comes barely two months after two of the four students were murdered in their off-campus residence.
This was after students embarked on a lengthy protest and class boycott.
Student representative council (SRC) president Troy Mathebula said the CCTV cameras had not yet been installed.
“If all those things are not going to be implemented, no one is going to enter those residences and people will have to account,” Mathebula said.
But university spokesperson Mike Khuboni said the report the institution had received was that Nkosi had complained of a headache and had asked for medication, which she was given.
According to a paramedics report, she might have overdosed on the pills,” Khuboni claimed, much to the surprise and anger of the deceased’s family.
Vanderbijlpark police spokeswoman Sergeant Gertrude Magale confirmed a student was found dead in her room and that police were waiting for a postmortem report.

South Africa: Parents find daughter 17 years after kidnap
February 27, 2015
JOHANNESBURG (AP) — A newborn was kidnapped from a Cape Town hospital in 1997 but her parents never gave up hope and now, 17 years later, they have found her.
The family had always celebrated their missing daughter's birthday on April 28, and following her remarkable discovery the girls' biological family is planning a festive celebration for her first birthday with them.
"We have to plan something very big," the girl's aunt told South Africa's Cape Talk radio station after it reported that DNA tests confirmed she was the child kidnapped from the Groote Schuur Hospital.
A 50-year-old woman was arrested and appeared in court Friday on charges of kidnapping and fraudulently pretending to the child's biological mother, police spokesman Andre Traut said. The woman will again appear in court on March 6, after she has gone through an identity parade, according to the South African Press Association.
The girl, who turns 18 in April, was raised by the arrested woman and her husband as their only child. She was living just a couple miles (kilometers) from her biological parents but, as the Cape Argus newspaper reports, the amazing discovery happened by chance when she became friends with her younger biological sister, when they attended the same school.
In her final year of high school, friends told her about a new student who had an uncanny resemblance to her, her biological aunt said. The two girls met and bonded instantly, despite the four-year age difference.

Celeste Nurse, right, the mother of a girl that was kidnapped as a baby 17 years ago, leaves the cou …
"There was just an incredible connection," her aunt told the radio station.
The younger daughter told her parents about her new friend who looked just like her. Still hopeful, the family invited the girl to their home for coffee, the Cape Argus reported. After seeing her, the father immediately contacted the police who revived their investigation into the kidnapping, the newspaper reported.
The police found that the couple claiming to be the teenager's parents could not prove she was their biological daughter, and DNA tests were carried out, the Cape Argus reported.
Biological mother and daughter were reunited for the first time on Thursday, the mother weeping, the child's elated aunt told the Cape Talk radio station.
"When she saw (her) yesterday, she knew, 'This is my child.' She said DNA wasn't necessary, she just knew," the child's aunt told the radio station. The child's biological mother, Celeste Nurse, has given a number of interviews in the years since the kidnapping, often when other babies were snatched.
Recovering from the birth of her first child 17 years ago, Nurse woke up to find a woman dressed as a hospital nurse sitting by her hospital bed, her newborn baby still in the cot, she told the Cape Times in 2011. She drifted off, groggy from the cesarean section operation.
"When I woke up there was a nurse saying my child is gone. You can't imagine the feeling," Nurse told the newspaper. "I just hope one day someone will realize something or see something and bring her back to us."
The Nurses had three other children, but continued their search for their eldest daughter, never giving up hope.
"I'll never, ever give up hope. I can feel it in my gut — my daughter is out there and she is going to come home," biological father Morne Nurse told the Weekend Argus newspaper five years ago. The family threw a birthday party for their kidnapped daughter each year, her siblings blowing out the candles on her cake.
The girl has not been identified by The Associated Press because she is a minor and a judge has ruled that the press should not publish the name under which she was raised. She is still in the custody of social services, according to police, but as soon as she is home, her newly-found family plan to celebrate her birthday with her for the first time.Yahoo News

SOUTH AFRICA – We are receiving reports that talented South African music producer Bojo Mujo has died. He is best know for hits like Summer Rain, Hlonolofatsa and Thando Lwami among many others.
His death comes as a double blow to the South African entertainment industry coming on the same day as the death of Zimbabwe born SABC Top Billing presenter Simba Mhere.
“He passed peacefully at Pretoria 5h00 AM after a short illness surrounded by family… Bojo Mujo’s first love was to make people dance. Although he is no longer with us, his music will live among his fans forever (sic),” his manager Sello Lehlake said.
Although Bojo Mujo’s music was widely consumed in townships and rural areas, his talent was seldom recognized especially in the mainstream media. But that seemed not to bother the multi-platinum seller.
“It does not bother me. Because I am not famous I have the freedom to go wherever I want. I get recognition through my sales and gigs. Fame means I can be in bad mood when I’m in public,” he told Tonight in 2009.
Just where did Bojo Mujo, aka Jack Lehlake, get his name from?
“In the Antonio Banderas film, Desperado, the baddie who turned out to be Antonio’s brother was named Bucho. I wanted the mojo that Bucho had and thought to myself that I was going to use that guy’s name in the future,” he said in a 2009 interview.
“In 2001, when I first became serious about recording music, I went under the name Bujo Mojo, but everyone got it wrong. They called me Bojo Mujo so I just stuck with it.”

People threw stones at the van of four Somali nationals who had packed up their shop in Soweto on Thursday following clashes between locals and foreigners.
A crowd stood around the van, which the men were loading with stock, in Heald street, Meadowlands.
Two police vans were on the scene and officers stood close to make sure the crowd did not intimidate the foreign businessmen.
A boy in school uniform shouted: "They must leave, they want to kill us."
One of the Somali men, Shineh Farrah Abdillah, responded: "Why would I want to kill you, you are my brother", to which the boy answered: "You are not my brother".
The crowd became impatient and as the men finished packing their van and started the vehicle people began throwing stones.
Abdillah, who said he had been in South Africa since 2011, told Sapa: "The police were trying to help us but now I'm worried about myself because of these people."
Earlier on Thursday, Winnie Madikizela-Mandela was reportedly in Meadowlands to try speak to the people.
Police were on high alert in Soweto, the third day of clashes that left at least two people dead.
Several shops owned by Ethiopians, Pakistanis and Somalis were closed in Snake Park following the attacks.
Residents went on a rampage looting shops and attacking foreigners after a teenager was shot dead in Snake Park. Mthetheleli Siphiwe Mahori, 14, was shot dead, allegedly by a foreign shop owner on Monday. He was apparently part of a group that tried to rob the shop.
The violence spilled over to Braamfischerville, Dobsonville, Emdeni, Zola and Protea Glen. Timeslive
