Kinna bashes wife over Broncleer

Malawian origin Mbare based dancehall musician Maliakini Saizi, better known as Kinna has joined the list of celebrity women bashers following reports that he beat up his wife, Theodora Chabika, after a domestic dispute on Monday.

Kinnah could neither confirm nor deny the allegations when this publication phoned him yesterday.

He claimed that the phone was inaudible before cutting off the conversation.

Theodore sustained injuries on her face and a bite mark on the chin–an indication that Kinna might have played a ‘Suarez’ – the popular footballer who was suspended for biting another player – on her.

“I am shocked that Kinna could fight his wife.

“The couple has been known to be a peaceful couple, we are in shock (sic),” said one neighbour who spoke on condition of anonymity.

A close friend told this publication that Kinna has had a long standing tiff with his wife after she accused him of abusing drugs.

The couple is blessed with one child.

“The thing is, the wife was advising him to minimise the intake of mushonga (drugs) and that did not go down well with him (sic),” said the highly placed source.

The couple had a temporary separation but were reported to be back together yesterday.

Theodore did not file a police report.

The incident shocked the legion of Kinna’s fans who perceived a squeaky clean character from one of Mbare’s darling sons.

Ever since his breakthrough, Kinna had done a good job of image control with many promoters dubbing him ‘the voice of reason’ in Zim dancehall.

He is on record for denouncing violence in Zim dancehall, and his lashing of violence compelled many to believe that ‘charity begins at home’.

Ironically though, he is alleged to be perpetrating violence in his own home and thus may not be qualified to publicly denounce such an unfortunate trend that has hit the Zim dancehall fratenity.

Meanwhile, another Zim dancehall star, Magikal, has also grabbed headlines for bashing his ex-girlfriend after a show held at the Exhibition Park recently.

However, Kinna arguably commands the largest following in Mbare among the Zim dancehall genre pundits. NIGEL PFUNDE  , , , , , , ,
