Govenment Grants Citizen Arrest Powers to Kombi Drivers in Efforts to Stop Corrupt Traffic Police Officers

Cops have been latched from demanding motorists to leave their cars and vehicles at roadblocks to fight corruption this christmas season. This revalation has been recieved with various opinions by driver, especially Kombi drivers, who said police victimize them if they dont get off their cars.

National Police spokesperson, Com C. Charamba expressed that “Police have been directed to speak to drivers without asking them to get off their cars and in full vies of the passengers. All passengers should see clearly what will be happening and if an offence has been committed, action should be taken in the open.”

“While we welcome the development, the fact is these cops make you park at the side of the road and they ignore you until you come out to speak to them,” said a driver who declined to be named.
The driver said kombis would be chasing time to maximise on the number of trips in a day.He said waiting at roadblocks costs them money so they often found it better to just get out of the vehicle and pay. ,
