A MARONDERA man who impersonated a B-Metro reporter in a bid to extort $1,200 from a Gweru-based catholic nun has been issued with a warrant of arrest.
Mike Chimutanda, 41, of Acacia Grove, Marondera, was supposed to appear before regional magistrate, Shotgame Musaiona, for judgment in a case of extortion.
Chimutanda, who is out of custody on $100 bail, is denying the charges.
Allegations against are that in July this year he phoned Sister Concilia Jangara, the headmistress of Regina Mundi High School in Gweru, claiming to have nu.de pictures of her.
He allegedly demanded $ 1,208 from Jangara so that he could stop publishing the pictures in the Bulawayo tabloid.
Chimutanda then asked Sister Jangara to deposit the money into a CABS Textcash agent’s account.
But Jangara later phoned B Metro offices and discovered that Chimutanda was not employed by the publication.
The case was then reported to the police, leading to his arrest.
